Title: Swooping Pigeons
Date: 28 August 2002
I had to walk to the Home Depot across a large open block of land that was covered in grass. The Home Depot was across the road from the block of land. The only problem was that there were millions of pigeons circling and swooping through the air at very high speeds. I started to walk slowly and steadily through the birds thinking that if I was predictable, they would avoid me. I held a magazine up to the right side of my head to protect it, in case one of the birds hit me accidentally. The birds were whipping past me so fast that I couldn't see them, but I could feel the air turbulence as well as the sound of them rushing past me by the hundreds. As I got to the other side of the block, I stepped out one step into the road to cross and looked left. An oncoming car got hit by one of the birds, and the driver swerved so hard that the car tipped onto it's side ad started skidding straight for me! The car skidded to a halt a few feet away from me, and as I started to ask the people if they were all right, they jumped out of the car (using the passenger's side door that was on top) and recoiled in fear. They were scared of me, not the birds. Cars coming the other way had stopped to watch, and noticeably locked their doors. Nobody seemed to notice the birds... they were all terrified of me.
