Title: If You Leave Me Now
Date: 24 July 2001
Chicago (the band, circa mid-70's) can be heard all around, it sounds like it's coming from the trees, or perhaps the water...
"If you leeeave me now, you'll take away the biiiggest paaaart of me..."
I have a good friend who is blind and I have to guide him over the very treacherously rocky shoreline of a VERY white water river. He's wearing regular jeans and dark leather coat, and the dark sunglasses. He's a clean cut guy, and strolls along looking very relaxed. I'm wearing a wet suit with short legs and arms, and a winter hat (nothing else).
"Ooo-ooo-oooooo no baby, please don't go..."
The rock is covered in moss and is very wet, making it incredibly slippery. In fact, there are streams of water pouring down the cracks of the rock. There's something in the streams, but at first I can't tell what they are. The side of the rock is steep.
"We've come too far to leeeeeave it aaaalll behind..."
He's doing fine, walking along the rocks, steady and calm. In contrast, I keep totally wiping out. It doesn't hurt even though I keep hitting my head on the rock, but I feel foolish since I'm supposed to be the guide.
"When tomorrow comes we will both regret the things we said todaaaaaay..."
This wouldn't bother me except the things in the streams of water turn out to be large, slimy, see-through animals and they keep attaching themselves to my head and face every time I land on the wet rock.
