The Kindness of Strangers
September 26, 2006 From: doug

So last night while I was out photographing the first punk show I’ve been to in as long as I can remember (and getting some sick shots), some wiener broke into my car and stole my car stereo and a fake leather jacket. Which, you know, sort of pissed me off. Since I have the serial number of the car stereo, I decided to report the theft to the police (I guess even if I didn’t, I should as least report it for statistical purposes). The police officer who took the report told me that she filled in another report earlier in the day where the victim had his window smashed and all they took was $0.35 from the ashtray.

At least the thief who stole my stuff had the courtesy to jimmy open the door without doing damage, and only left minor marks removing the car stereo. So, well, that was nice of them, eh?

Back to the factory stereo, I guess. No more iPod in the car. Sigh.

That is a real downer. Left broke into my car one night and took a few CD’s. I felt more hurt cause they were shopping leaving “old stuff” behind.

On a more positive note your photos look fantastic.

As the remains of Ernesto took out the power in my area, I headed down to the beach and snapped some long exposure photos. Because of the thick clouds and the power outage, the only light on the beach was being cast from downtown Toronto (where they still had power). These photos were taken sometime after 1:00 AM.

To create a rainbow on demand when watering the yard, aim the garden hose upward at an angle and sway. You can see a bigger arc when the sun is low, such as in midmorning.

Doug responds: I wish I had known this during that week long binge of hallucinogenic drugs.
