Pete Nema Music Reviews
January 27, 2006 From: doug
[Dog Enema Sign]
I think it’s time I made it official: I’ve launched a new site specifically for music reviews. To give you an idea of the focus, the one liner is Cleansing Indie Music Reviews. And, yes, the site is called Pet Enema. Get over it. And, as you can see, I even created a beautiful and mildly explicit logo. Pete Nema, my somewhat harsh alter ego, is responsible for writing the reviews. I think he is out to a good start, though, keeping it almost entirely clean (I repeat: almost). What I’m saying is that I’ll try to keep Pete in line, but if you go poking around that site and you don’t like the words you see, don’t come complaining to me. Or Pete, for that matter.

Why did I create Pet Enema? Well, I guess my all-request radio has driven a couple of bands to send me CDs for review, along with small press kits. And this is without even asking for them. I could just write mini-reviews on this site, but instead I decided to give them a little more attention. And why not? Pete really enjoys listening to new music; why not let him him tell the world what he thinks? So I decided to setup a music review site, request that bands send Pete their music for review, and have him write short and [hopefully] descriptive reviews for these independent bands.

It turns out that the day before I went to see Broken Social Scene at the Kool Haus was the day I got the site setup. To my surprise, Pete was with me at the concert and he decided that Pet Enema could be used for concert reviews as well.

There you have it. Visit the site. Ignore the site. Like Pete. Hate Pete. Whatever makes you happy.

Meister Rabolu Fan Writes
January 11, 2006 From: doug

Yea! Another V.M. Rabolu fan has written me a short note attempting to convince me that including him on my Insane page is incorrect. And, once again, the points outlined are indisputable. Read the new entry from Marjorie.

Highly Flammable Action Figures
January 1, 2006 From: doug
[Vinny Smith]
I already knew the internet was a strange place, but then someone forwarded this link to me: Vinny Smith. Before you click, you need to know that Vinny Smith is the CEO of the company where I work, and this is, in fact, an action figure in his image.

Once I got over the surprise, I discovered that Highly Flammable Toys makes one-off action figures. I know what you’re thinking: “Oooh, now it all makes sense”.
