| Smelling Like Baby Powder |
|
May 27, 2005 From: doug
|
Twice in the past week women have passed me reeking of baby powder. Young women. Young, good-looking women. In case there are any women out there reading this that think it might be nice to smell like baby powder, keep in mind that diaper manufacturers make their products smell like baby powder. And babies tend to take huge, smelly dumps in those diapers. And so… those two young, good-looking women who passed by me, feeling confident and smelling like baby powder, both reminded me of poo. Probably not what they were going for. Of course, they probably weren’t out trolling for dads, so I’m clearly not their target market. But I doubt single, hot, childless men would really go for the baby powder smell either. In fact, it occurs to me now that they may have been out trying to pick up married mothers who long for their children to be babies again. It’s the only explanation.
Step away from the baby powder!

Well, if you checked out my auction today, you would see that it sold to member47002, which is actually www.goldenpalace.com. It went for exactly my reserve price, so it was clear there wasn’t much real interest, mostly just people who came to have a look (and hopefully a laugh). So thanks to goldenpalace.com for showing up at the last minute!
I haven’t found out what action figure they plan on sending, but I can tell you that goldenpalace.com won a Runaway Bride auction a few days ago.
Sometime in late July, I will post a page on this site with the story of the auction and all the photos I took of their action figure. Until then… back to our regularly scheduled programming.

| [Not so] Daily Update: ACTION FIGURE! |
|
May 22, 2005 From: doug

This is my last update before the auction ends…
Send your ACTION FIGURE on a TOUR OF ITALY
Traffic has really slowed down over the past few days. I’ve only got another 14 people watching, and even though the number of visitors continues to climb, it is much slower. And no bidding activity. So, either people are waiting to bid, or everyone is just watching to see what someone else would pay to send an action figure to Italy. Only time will tell! Whatever the outcome, I hope everyone who has come to view this auction has had a good laugh! And to the 115 people who added this auction to their watch list: Thanks for watching!
Visitors: 1634, Wacthers: 115, Bids: 13, Price: $31.00

| Daily Update: ACTION FIGURE AUCTION! |

Alright, as promised, here is a photo of the two of us. Yes, our heads are cut-off, and that’s because this photo was taken by a 4 year-old. My wife is the good looking one (although it’s hard to tell with just her mouth in the photo), but that’s all you’re going to see of her on this auction. I have another photo of just me that I can post, if there is any interest. Without doubt, other people will show up in the tour-of-Italy photos, but I can’t say who exactly. Ahh… the life of an action figure. Go ACTION FIGURE!

There’s a great website called BizarreBids.com that says you’ve got a better chance of being featured on their home page if you include this banner in your auction. So… I added it to my auction, and I’m including it here with a link directly to their site. Lots of hilarious stuff to see there, so check it out:
![[Bizarre Bids]](images/blog/bizarrebids.jpg)
As I was thinking about some of the photos I want to take, it occurred to me that although I will try to stay out of the photos, it is very likely that me and/or my wife will be in at least some the photos. It just can’t be helped! So, it only seems fair that you know what we look like. Pending approval from my wife, I will dig up some photos of us and add them to this auction later this week. So check back on Thursday for photos!
In the meantime, while I was looking for appropriate photos, I found this in my collection:
![[Spider-Man]](http://www3.sympatico.ca/dog.fish/spider-man.jpg)
I had forgotten that I took that one. I think it’s fair to say I have a natural tendency toward photographing action figures. I would say: it’s genetic. But I’m guessing my parents may not agree.

| The Daily Update: ACTION FIGURE AUCTION! |

Nothing HUGE to report in the past 2 days, but I like the interest level that’s going on! I thank you all for adding me to your watch list!
If you haven’t seen my auction yet, go look now:
Send your ACTION FIGURE on a TOUR OF ITALY
I’ve been thinking about all the fun photos I can get with your action figure. I’m going to start making a list. I can’t make any promises, since some of them will depend on the tolerance of strangers. And others that I have in mind, well, let’s just say you’ll get what you pay for!
This is fun for me so far, but I really thought I would get more questions. I’ve quite enjoyed the few I’ve had, though. I was certainly laughing when buyweirddotcom asked if I would take a piece of toast with me. Oh, and with respect to the “wafers” question, it occurs to me that I should’ve ended my answer with “Albatross!”
So, for archival purposes, the current statistics are:
- Visitors: 700
- Watchers: 68
- Bids: 7 ($20.50)
Hey, this is excellent! I’ve still got 7 more days to go, and I’ve already had 700 visitors and 68 watchers… you’re all amazing. Thanks! I’m not sure exactly how many watchers I need to make it to eBay Pulse, but it’s probably somewhere between 60 - 100 more. Go ACTION FIGURES!
More updates tomorrow…

| No Pants! |

May 6, 2005 From: doug

Until 10 minutes ago, I had no idea that today, Friday May 6th 2005, was No Pants Day! I can’t believe I wandered around the office all day with my pants on. What a fool I am. I guess that’s water under the bridge… the only solution is to correct the problem immediately.

| What’s the going rate for a dead Alien? |
|
May 4, 2005 From: doug
|
How much would you pay for a dead alien? Well, slow down there, don’t answer so quick. What if I said it was bought at an estate sale near Area 51. How much now? It turns out the going rate is about C$1100. Of course, I wouldn’t just say that. Not without some sort of proof.
