Douglas Doe? Hey that’s not me!
March 31, 2005 From: doug

Although my last name is extremely well known, it’s reasonably uncommon. Except in the hospital. It’s fun to watch the health care workers try to keep a straight face as they search for my name in the long list of John Doe’s that have ever been admitted. So, as it turns out, Doug Doe is a fairly uncommon name. But the world is a big place and it’s swarming with humans, so there’s a good chance there’s someone else out there with the same name.

Zork!
March 24, 2005 From: doug

ZorkI can’t tell you how many hours I spent playing Zork and the other text adventures from Infocom. My absolute favourite was Suspended. I solved that one many different ways. And now there are multiple ways to enjoy these games. First, THCNET has an online version of Zork. You can even save and restore games. Very cool. Or you can download Zork from an Infocom tribute site. It’s just like being a geek teenager again!

How Many Cats Is Too Many?
March 12, 2005 From: doug

This is a question that will undoubtedly be answered for you by The Infinite Cat Project. In fact, I’m positive the answer lies hidden in that website for each and every person. Don’t just read about the infinite cats, instead start at, say, cat 251 and click the “Next Cat” icon in the upper-right of the screen to go from cat to cat. Do this for long enough and you will find yourself basking in the void that is the collective consciousness of these cats.

I have the answer! Yes, I have the answer! I have done my time, and although the answer is very personal, for me the answer is: Cat #188 - Sacha watching Booger watching Lilu. That, my feline friend, is too many. Thus, I make the following assertion:

Infinity = 188 cats

Wordpress
March 5, 2005 From: doug

After converting my Meatsicle website to be interactive using Geeklog, I decided it would be nice to have this site interactive as well. Geeklog is excellent, but I was interested in trying something else. So, for this site, I’m using Wordpress. And even then, I’m just using it for these blog pages.

The result is now you can comment on these entries. And I currently have it setup so that you can register, if you’re so inclined. Wordpress also supports an RSS feed, but I haven’t tried it out yet.
