Cool Gimmick or Scary Conspiracy?
August 19, 2004 From: doug

Mark Gowdy writes: Found this company that, for a small fee, can create your own DNA profile and even produce T-shirts/mugs with your DNA profile on them. The geek in me loves it but the 1984-paranoid-they’re-out-to-get-me sensible head is a little worried.

Modest Mouse at the Kool Haus
August 8, 2004 From: doug

We went to see Modest Mouse at the Kool Haus last Wednesday (Aug. 4th). They were a pretty good band to see live, adding energy and playing variations on the studio work. They played a bunch of my favorites from their last album, like Paper Thin Walls and Wild Pack Of Family Dogs, as well as most of the new album. My major complaint was that they were only on for an hour, then a 15 minute encore… buh bye!

Here is a picture taken with my Sanyo SCP-8100 cell phone. Isn’t it great!

If you’re interested in giving Modest Mouse a listen, make a request on my All Request Radio Station and then tune in.

Purchasing Pee on the Internet
August 6, 2004 From: doug

I really have to hand it to Google Ads, since they are providing me with quite a bit of entertainment. Last night while surfing through some of my very own dreams, I found out, through Google Ads, that animal urine is not just for the rich and famous. Now it’s available to everyone through the internet. Fox urine. Wolf urine. Even real mountain lion urine. Apparently, you can use this urine to influence the movement of other animals.

What’s the going rate for 8 oz. of Fox urine, you ask? That’ll be US$13.99, please. Save a bundle, buy a gallon for only US$129.99. Let me clarify this: Buy a gallon of pee for US$129.99.

But before you go place your order, contact me. I may be able to provide you with a much better deal on a slightly different grade of urine.

William Shatner Belts Out A New One
August 4, 2004 From: doug

This news has been making it around the internet recently: William Shatner, apparently unsatisfied by a string of cameo appearences, has teamed up with Ben Folds to create an album for the recently new millenium. The album will include such beauties as a cover of Pulp’s “Common People” recorded with Joe Jackson. Sources say that Henry Rollins, Amy Mann, and Nick Hornby also make contributions to this… new… recording.

Thanks to Keith for passing this on to me.

Bubba Ho-Tep
August 2, 2004 From: doug

I’m a Bruce Campbell fan. If you don’t know who Bruce Campell is, then I refer you to his rather impressive filmography, mostly in B-movies. We watched Bubba Ho-Tep last night, and I have just this to say: It was, without a doubt, the best Elderly-Elvis-and-Negro-JFK-take-on-a-walking-Egyption-cowboy-zombie movie I’ve ever seen!

Okay, I lied, I have one other thing to say: Get youself comfy before the opening line, because you aren’t going to want to miss it. In fact, this movie deserves some sort of award just for that line alone.

Treat Your Dog’s Fireworks Phobia?!?
August 1, 2004 From: doug

Are you kidding me?!? No, really, level with me. Let’s say your dog is scared of fireworks… COME ON, LET’S SAY IT! Okay, good, we can take that as a given. Now, how many fireworks do you have to set off per year to actually want to bother to treat your dog’s fireworks phobia? Is it really necessary to cure your dog of its irrational fear of fireworks?!? I’m not even sure it would be worth bothering to cure a human of this problem. I think I might have “Dogphobophboia”, which is, of course: The irrational fear of curing a dog of its phobias.
