Phobophobia: The irrational fear of phobias
May 31, 2004 From: doug

When I was in University working a co-op term at NorTel (at the time BNR), I had in my posession a dictionary of phobias, borrowed a friend from Neuchatel. I was amazed that some of these irrational fears were common enough that they needed a name. So, every week I would post a “Phobia of the Week” on my whiteboard. Now, using the magic that is the internet, I have reproduced my BNR whiteboard. Yes, I’ve added a new Random Phobia section to my home page (just take a look on the left). Fun? Not if you have Phobophobia.

The Cure For All Cancers
May 26, 2004 From: doug

Today I reluctantly added an entry for Dr. Hulda Clark to my Insane page. I say “reluctantly” because it’s hard to decide if she’s insane or just unbearably unethical (well, maybe not that hard… I know which way I’m leaning). Still, her claims are so outrageous that, at the very least, she is insane with Greed, and at the most, she is performing criminal activities on people with terminal illnesses.

IKEA Product Names
May 8, 2004 From: doug

Gordon Tranter says: “I wonder what else could be lurking under the seat”. This computer desk from IKEA has a great Swedish name. This item listing has some of the best advice I’ve ever received from IKEA: Wipe clean with a damp cloth.

I am now officially listed on The Page of DOUGS. I’ll bet you didn’t even think there was such a page. And I’ll bet you don’t even care, do you?

Corrupt Thy Children
May 4, 2004 From: doug

There’s just too much stuff to add to my blog recently. I guess I could store it all up and spit it out over time, but what’s the point? This entry is about an “Advanced Photoshop Contest” on the Worth1000 website, called Corrupt Thy Children. Some great stuff.

Meatsicle! T-Shirts
May 3, 2004 From: doug

As a result of the Hannity online discussion about what a meatsicle is (see my post just below), I discovered this amazing advertisement for Meatsicle! But that’s not all… you can order a t-shirt with a print of that image on it.

Online Discussion About Meatsicle!
From: doug

Looking at my site statistics over the past couple of weeks, I learned that my meatiscle! site was brought up in an online discussion on the Sean Hannity site after he hosted a radio interview with Ted Nugent. There was some debate over Mr. Nugent’s use of the term “meatsicle”, and my web site was used in response to the question: What else could a meatsicle be?

This morning I added a new page to my site: Insane. This is where I keep track of amusing and [possibly] insane people and their websites. Enjoy.

Pacmanhattan
From: doug

Chris says (something like): “Here’s a group of guys that aren’t in any danger of getting laid”. Pacmanhattan. When will people learn that exercise and video games don’t mix?!? Look, whenever I worry that I grew up to be a total geek because I actually find Java performance analysis fun, compared to these guys I may not be The Fonz, but I’m at least a Chachi.
